New Church Council commissioned

On june 5, 2016 we commissioned the 12 new Church Councillors.  We declared all positions vacant and had an election for all positions, having decided we would have 6 elected from the 10.00am English service worship service and 6 from the 11.30am Samoan service.  The key thing here is we wanted to stress we are one congregation with two worship times and languages, but both are equally recognised.  Rev Penaia Te’o and Rev Ray Gormann officiated at the commissioning and it was a moving occasion as these newly elected leaders took their vows before God and the gathered community of both worship services.  We had lunch together and then the first meeting of the new church council.  A major task of the council will be to discern the future direction of the congregation in terms of the Regeneration emphasis of the congregation and the use of Property Sales Proceeds the congregation has access to from the sale of the old Sunshine Christian School.  We engaged the services of the Presbytery Mission Worker, the Rev Rose Broadstock, to help us in a couple of recent meetings which looked at these issues.  We have some early ideas that we are working up into some strategic plans.  Exciting times!
